Jesus
said, “I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He
may abide with you forever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot
receive, because it sees Him not, neither knows Him: but you know Him; for He
dwells with you, and shall be in you.” (John
14:16,17)
The
word "Comforter" as applied to the Holy Spirit needs to be translated
by some vigorous term. Literally, it means "with strength." Jesus promised His followers that "The
Strengthener" would be with them forever.
This promise is no lullaby for the faint-hearted. It is a blood
transfusion for courageous living.
