to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together,
as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you

When people are in small groups where
someone knows them -- where they can ask the threatening, embarrassing, naïve
questions, and share where they are -- then they can take giant steps in their
faith. That just doesn't happen in a church service of 200 or 500 people.
