NOTE: Today, March 29, 2018, marks the 19th
anniversary of our SOUND BITES Ministry™. It was begun in 1999 in memory
of my son, Dustin, who had died on March 29, 1998 -- now 20 years ago. As
we continue to move through Holy Week, I would invite you to share how God has
used SOUND BITES to minister to you… and invite you to share SOUND BITES with
others, inviting them to subscribe. Thank you for your support over the years.

A SONG OF PASSION
“And when they had sung a hymn, they
went out to the Mount of Olives.” (Mark
14:26 NKJV)
How fitting that on this very night
Christ, the coming King, would give voice to songs penned centuries earlier
just for Him… Imagine the Son of God singing these words as the seconds ticked
toward the cross… “The Lord is with Me; I will not be afraid. What can man do
to me?... The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has
done this and it is marvelous in our eyes.”
Whatever
Christ sang as the Passover meal concluded that night, the words had
significance for Him that the others never comprehended. I wonder if His voice
quivered with emotion. Or did He sing with exultation? Perhaps He did both,
just as you and I have done at terribly bittersweet moments when our faith
exults while our sight weeps. One thing we know: Christ, above all others, knew
He was singing more than words. That night He sang the score of His
destiny.

What a beautiful devotion you put together for “just me” today. One of my dearest friends shared yesterday that after 6 months, the cancer is back. So I share this Sound Bite & these thoughts with another in my bible study…
ReplyDeleteSo we sing with gusto at this bittersweet time “when our faith exults while our sight weeps“ How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace and What A Friend We Have In Jesus and One Thing I Know and This World Is Not My Home and How Beautiful and Take Me Up The Hill and Heal The Wound and Come To Jesus and Your Grace…and we wipe away our tears knowing who our hope lies in.
“thanx” Dave for making me think so hard this morning!!
As you celebrate the life of Dustin and what the loss of him turned into (Sound Bites), know that your words strike a note with us. The time you invest in this is so very much appreciated!
Easter Blessings on you & yours-
Cindy
What you have done in creating SOUND BITES in memory of Dustin was a wonderful idea. I cannot begin to tell you the number of them I have put into a file on my computer. I need to get busy and print them out and arrange them into a booklet. So many times what you have shared touches me in some way.
ReplyDeleteOn the day your son, Dustin, died my grandson, Sidney, was born… This special day for both of us lets us know that the cycle of life goes on--people die and people are born.
