FEEDING ON SCRIPTURE
We are
free to feed our minds from every good source, but there is no source like the
Bible. It is a written revelation of who
God is and of what God’s purposes are for humanity. No book comes close to it in influence or significance. Eugene Peterson writes, “Christians feed on
Scripture. Holy Scripture nurtures the
holy community as food nurtures the human body.
Christians don’t simply learn or study or use Scripture; we assimilate
it, take it into our lives in such a way that it gets metabolized into acts of
love.”
