WORRY AND DEPRESSION

"When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul." (Psalm 94:19)

After turning it over to God, the next step in the cure for worry, depression, anxiety, melancholy, brooding, is to go deliberately forth and try to lift, with one's empathy, the gloom of somebody else.

  1. whenever I see the word "worry" I remember this:

One Sunday morning, when our church was going through a difficult time, a guest speaker advised us: the natural response to stressful situations is either "flurry or worry", rather than relying upon God; but neither one is effective. Flurry dissipates our energy; worry constipates it.
